 GCSE course work

Y11 P.E students from City School used the City Learning Centre to develop their GCSE coursework.

They watched video footage of different sports using Kandle software. Two sequences, for example amateur and professional football, could be compared and analysed.

The students used the workshop to perform:

  • match analysis, adding commentary to real games;
  • research On rules in different sports, using the Internet;
  • skills analysis, where pupilsused digital cameras to capture physical performance and compare and contrast pupil efforts compared to top athletes.
  • practice methods and coaching skills identification.

P.E teacher Andy Broad said: “The City Learning Centre really helps with the students’ P.E coursework. They can actually analyse sporting activity using the software and discuss what the athletes are doing to enhance their performance. We can look at two athletes sprinting and analyse the technique of the winning athlete. This will improve pupils’ projects and their grades at G.C.S.E.”
